“ | Recorded in 1973 but only released the following year, "Desert Places" displays a wild mix of styles and influences, ranging from Jethro Tull (title track Desert Places) to Deep Purple, with a light sprinkling of krautrock "motorik". The musicianship however is never less than highly competent, making this record a highly prized prog rarity. Satin Whale's Desert Places was a fantastic heavy-prog effort, performing a mix of blues, hard rock and slight jazz, tempered by a stunning guitar, killer swirling organ and hard driven bass and drum. All the tracks are extremely energetic and well played. "Seasons of life and Remember" are the highlights of the album. HEAVY KRAUT PROG KILLER !! Fantastic Album !! | ” |
