N.T. Atomic System released their first album in 1973, a splendid album very rich in the vein of classic Ital-Prog culture with Vittorio De Scalzi himself playing flute and keyboards along with guitar... The music on this album is fully of beautiful melodies and dramatic instrumentation. On this album they have added the female vocals of Anna e Giulietta whose voice sounds great along with De Scalzi's. This album contains the bands rendition of Mussorgsky's "A night on Bare Mountain" (Una notte sul Monte Calvo),... a short but great instrumental track, sounding a bit evil and creepy. One of the standout aspects of this album for me is the great keyboard playing of Renato Rosset (piano, Hammond organ, moog, mellotron and electric piano).

Founding member of the Jefferson Airplane and longtime mainstay of Hot Tuna, Jack Casady was one of the first rock bass players to explore the full melodic potential of his instrument. While the underlying sound of Dream Factor is distinctly blues oriented, Casady deviates from the norm with a pair of electrifying inclusions. Guests include Jorma Kaukonen, Ivan Neville and Paul Barrere. Jack Casady has been a very important figure for the development of the electric bass, an instrument on which he developed an unmistakable timbre - rubbery and metallic - and a style that was harmonically complex and highly dramatic.

Love were one of the most extraordinary bands to emerge from Los Angeles during one of the most remarkable periods in music, the dawn of the rock era in the mid ‘60s. Led by the colourful and charismatic Arthur Lee, they made only three albums in their original incarnation and were revered by many of their fellow LA musicians, including their label mates The Doors. This 2 CD compilation includes the best of their albums Love, Da Capo and Four Sail (the last featuring Lee as the only original member), and their masterpiece Forever Changes in its entirety.

A group of like-minded jazz musicians formed the original core of Piirpauke in 1974. Coming toward the end of the classic era of progressive music, the Finnish band established themselves almost immediately as a folk-inspired group with a free form, improvisational style and a tendency toward long, eclectic original arrangements. While the band would veer into more contemporary, pop and even classical compositions during the eighties and nineties, they would return to their jazz-folk roots in the new millennium. Despite an evolving membership the band has endured for nearly forty years, releasing more than eighteen studio albums as well as a wide range of live recordings and compilations.

You can call it Punk goes Mersey Beat or Buddy Holly sings the Ramones... No matter! Here's a nostalgic, magnificent stuff, performed in a cheerful, upbeat manner. This is a fabulous Merseybeat-rooted homage to mainly Punkrock and R&B-classics. Recommended to any interested person.

After the disaster of the previous album Mother Focus, Akkerman, van Leer and company released this collection of outtakes and unreleased tracks. This is much better record that brings back some of the old FOCUS magic. It is particularly worthy to listen to the nice and playful flute-marked opener P's March and the dark and noisy rendition of fuzz and Mellotron filled Can't Believe My Eyes.

Atomic Soul is Symphony X's lead singer Russell Allen's debut solo album. It was released on April 26, 2005. The album is different from Symphony X's harder, more progressive sound, and has been dubbed by many, including Allen himself, as "Hard Rock". The album was released in 2005 on the InsideOut Music label...

This really is a superb album from the masters of classic rock. Not only is the musicianship of the very highest standard but the songs are all strong and leave you with a very contented smile on your face! This really does rate up there along with Wishbone's very best. Those twin guitars soar and battle and their trademark subtle / heavy light and shade riffs and melody make you want to reach for the nearest tennis racket, you'll need a partner to dual with for Big Issues.

Another four-disc box that compiles extended and uncut versions of '80s singles, Back to the 80's: The Long Versions, Vol. 2 (from Sony Holland) might be worth it for those who still love mainstream pop from that bygone decade. Most '80s-themed compilations use truncated radio edit versions in order to cram as many songs as possible on one disc; this does just the opposite and therefore sticks out compared to the average various-artists collection. The Blue Nile's "Tinseltown in the Rain," Jan Hammer's "Miami Vice Theme," Captain Sensible's "Wot," Bronski Beat's "Smalltown Boy," Donald Fagen's "I.G.Y.," and Thomas Dolby's "I Scare Myself" are just some of the songs presented in extended or full form here. Amazingly, all 17 minutes of Steve Miller Band's "Macho City" - a very uncharacteristic song from Miller, and an unlikely underground club hit in the U.S. are included.

What I Did on My Vacation is an official compilation album from Ian Gillan, released in 1986 in UK by 10 Records. The album covers Gillan's recordings between 1977 and 1982 and was released in three formats (2LP, CD, MC). All songs from the album had been previously released. Although not credited on the cover, "Scarabus" is preceded by an instrumental piece by Colin Towns, which was used as the intro to "On The Rocks" (from the Glory Road album). The LP version set boasts four more tracks than the CD version.

The 2008 EMI reissue restores the original U.K. album song lineup (with "The Air That I Breathe" as the last track), which is an improvement right there, and it augments the album with five bonus tracks from the same sessions that either went unreleased at the time or ended up elsewhere (i.e., single B-sides, etc.). And the irony is that those five songs are mostly significantly better than much of the material that ended up on the album -- "Mexico Gold" and "Tip of the Iceberg" are fiercely stylized tracks with good hooks and memorable choruses that stand out as straight-ahead rockers, which is more of what the group needed (and fewer ballads), and the previously unissued "Burn Fire Burn" (composed by drummer Bobby Elliott), presented here with a fresh mix, is at least as good a track as anything that did make it onto the original LP...

Morphine's fourth studio release, 1997's Like Swimming, was a bit of a disappointment when compared to such stellar earlier releases as Cure for Pain and Yes. After singer/two-string bassist Mark Sandman died of a heart attack on-stage in 1999, many Morphine fans assumed that Like Swimming would be the band's swansong thankfully, it wasn't. The Boston trio completed their fifth album just prior to Sandman's untimely passing, entitled The Night, and it's definitely an improvement over its predecessor. Whereas many of the songs on their previous album sounded unfinished and rushed, The Night sounds like a fully realized work.
