“Hurriganes is a Finnish rock band that was formed in the early 1970s. They were very popular in Finland in the 1970s and early 1980s; they were also a popular live act in Sweden during this time. Their style of music is very much of a nostalgic, pre-Beatles, roots rock'n'roll orientation. During their "classic" period, the band's output consisted largely of revved-up cover versions of well-known 1950s rock'n'roll songs in addition to their own original material. In this sense, Hurriganes can be viewed as Finland's answer to British pub rock performers of the 1970s like Dave Edmunds and Dr. Feelgood. Roadrunner is an album released by the Finnish rock band Hurriganes in 1974. It is considered one of the most influential albums in Finnish rock music history...”

Forgotten voices from the end of the universe, the last Bay City Rollers album was cut from an almost unrecognizable musical cloth, and so laden down with power pop jewelry that, if they'd only changed their name to Cheap Trick or something, they could have been huge all over again. Hit-era vocalist Les McKeown was long gone by the time the band cut this disc; Voxx was new boy Duncan Faure's third album and it found the Rollers firmly entrenched in their post-fame existence with a clutch more tightly wrought choruses and fist-pumping melodies -- much the same as the material that made their name in the first half of the decade, but acting their age now, and sounding terrific.

Fifty years ago, Cambridge city council stumped up the funds for the first folk festival in the atmospheric grounds of Cherry Hinton Hall. A couple of hundred people gathered around one precarious stage to see a motley selection of singers, including Paul Simon, who earned £15 for his troubles. The whole festival had an unmistakably retro feel, drawing heavily on the spirit of its own history. Two returning heroes, Richard Thompson and Loudon Wainwright, showed that one man, a guitar and a savage set of lyrics can still tear the place apart. Thompson’s daughter, Kami, and her husband James Walbourne’s band, The Rails, followed their outstanding debut album Fair Warning with a confident live set.

“Great album, haven't seen it on cd yet! This lp contains the world wide radio song "We Are HIS Hands"; just luv this song!! The choir includes top ccm artists like Scott Wesley Brown, Russ Taff, Amy Grant, Kathy Troccoli, ccm vet Chris Christian to name some. It would have been nice to hear more of the choir at the end of the song; faded too soon! The opening song on side 1 "Sing unto the Lamb" great song!! "Walking in the Light" another song I just luv to hear. "Carried Away", "Quiet Love" & "Undercover" are also album favorites. This was quite the ccm essential album to have at the time of its release. GOD Bless!”

An anthology is usually understood to be a selection of material, but Sanctuary's compilation of recordings by the Nazz, Open Our Eyes: The Anthology, actually collects all of the band's legitimately released tracks on two CDs with a running time of over two hours and ten minutes. That's the 34 songs that made up the albums Nazz, Nazz Nazz, and Nazz III, plus an outtake cover of "Train Kept a Rollin'" first released on the 1985 LP Best of the Nazz and making its CD debut here. But if compiler Kieron Tyler exercises no judgment about what to include, he does take it upon himself to provide a new sequence rather than just running one album after another in the order they were released originally in 1968-1970.

“'From The Vault' is a series of live concerts from The Rolling Stones archive which are getting their first official release. 'The Marquee Live In 1971' is the latest addition to the series. The show was filmed at London's legendary Marquee club on March 26th 1971, shortly after the finish of the band's 1971 UK tour and about a month before the release of the 'Sticky Fingers' album in late April. Mick Taylor was now fully integrated into the group and the band had used the tour to showcase some of the tracks from the forthcoming album. The show at the Marquee was filmed for American television and four songs from the 'Sticky Fingers' album were featured, including the rarely performed 'I Got The Blues'. The footage has now been carefully restored and the sound has been newly mixed by Bob Clearmountain for this first official release of the show.”
